Indio, CA – The 32nd Annual Indio International Tamale Festival returns to Miles Avenue Park on Saturday and Sunday, December 7-8, 2024, promising another unforgettable celebration of culture, flavor, and community. Recognized by the Guinness World Records as the Largest Tamale Festival, this iconic event will once again draw tamale enthusiasts from near and far, as vendors compete for the coveted title of ‘Best Tamale’ in three delicious categories: Traditional, Vegetarian, and Sweet.
“The Indio International Tamale Festival is a beloved tradition that has grown in both size and reputation over the past three decades,” said Mayor Lupe Ramos Amith. “We’re excited to bring back the focus on tamales—the heart of the event—while continuing to celebrate the rich diversity and culture of our community. The festival not only highlights the culinary talents of our region but also fosters a sense of togetherness that is uniquely Indio.”
For over 30 years, the Indio International Tamale Festival has been a cherished tradition in Downtown Indio. This year’s festival is set to captivate visitors with an incredible array of tamales, entertainment, and family-friendly activities. The festival will take place on Saturday, December 7, from 10:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m., and Sunday, December 8, from 10:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.
In partnership with the City of Indio on the Tamale Fest’s future is Pickering Events, organizers of the Riverside County Fair & National Date Festival presented by Fantasy Springs Resort Casino. “The Indio International Tamale Festival separates itself from other large events in the valley by providing free admission, free parking, and free entertainment,” said CEO Chris Pickering. “We’ve listened to community members and festival business partners on what they love about the Tamale Fest and what they’d love to see added. This year’s event returns to its roots centering on Comida, Cultura, y Comunidad.”
