Kitchen and Bar Manager

Pickering Events LLC has an immediate opening for a Kitchen and Bar Manager. The Kitchen and Bar Manager will oversee the day-to-day operations of our bar operations and soon-to-open commercial kitchen, including developing procedures and menus, ensuring compliance with Environmental Health and ABC, and managing inventory. This role is a supervisory position ranging from self-directed to over twenty seasonal staff during events. This position requires flexible work hours, including nights and weekends during events.

The successful candidate will join our small, family-owned business operating at the Riverside County Fairgrounds in Indio, home to the annual Riverside County Fair & National Date Festival presented by Fantasy Springs Resort Casino; and a new tradition this October, the Riverside County Scare & Pumpkin Festival.

Responsibilities

⦁ Train and supervise all kitchen bar staff, ensuring they are knowledgeable about products, policies, and procedures.
⦁ Monitor and maintain the quality of food and beverage service.
⦁ Create and maintain a welcoming and inclusive atmosphere for all guests.
⦁ Make recommendations on the kitchen and bar's financial processes, including cash handling, budgeting, inventory, and assets.
⦁ Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal laws and regulations regarding food and alcohol service and sales.
⦁ Contribute to overall team success through collaboration with events and facilities departments.
⦁ Continuously evaluate and improve the kitchen and bar's offerings, including menu items, promotions, and events.

Skills

⦁ Proven experience as a kitchen, restaurant, and/or bar manager
⦁ Demonstrated excellence in communication and interpersonal skills
⦁ Ability to manage personnel and meet financial targets
⦁ In-depth knowledge of the business of food and beverage service
⦁ Familiarity with relevant health and safety regulations
⦁ Capacity to quickly learn and adopt relevant software (G-Suite, EventPro)
⦁ Knowledge of inventory management and cost control
⦁ Excellent customer service skills

Education and Experience:
⦁ Bachelor's degree in hospitality management or related field
⦁ Valid certification in bartending or mixology
⦁ Educational requirements may be substituted with 3-5 years’ experience in a supervisory role at a kitchen and/or bar
⦁ Current ServSafe Manager and ServSafe Alcohol certifications or willingness and ability to obtain both within 30 days of hire

Physical Requirements:
⦁ Prolonged periods standing and walking.
⦁ Must be physically able to climb ladders, bend, or crawl into awkward spaces.
⦁ Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at a time.

Job Type: In-person, Full-time, Exempt (not overtime eligible)

Pay: $60,000–65,000 annual salary, depending on experience

Schedule:
8 hour shift; 40 hours a week; generally Monday - Friday, 8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.
Will require some nights and weekends for events. Weekdays will be granted off to accommodate weekend event work when possible. We request no vacation time be taken in January or February in preparation for the annual Riverside County Fair & National Date Festival presented by Fantasy Springs Resort Casino.
