Special Rules & Guidelines

Master Showmanship Contest Rules & Guidelines

  1. Awards and Ribbons will be awarded to the Master Showman in each division.
  2. First-place winner in all showmanship divisions will compete for Master Showman.
  3. Contestants will not show their own animals.
  4. Contestants are required to wear the uniform of the organization they represent.
  5. Minis do not compete.
  6. Contestants will report to the show ring for check-in at 3:30 pm Friday, February 23.

Breeding Beef Cattle Female Rules & Guidelines

  1. All Females twenty-four (24) months of age or older at the beginning day of the Fair must:
  • Have calf at side or
  • Show obvious signs of pregnancy or
  • Have a veterinary’s certificate of pregnancy.

2. Nurse cows will not be permitted
3. Crossbred or unregistered females only

Market Beef

  1. After weighing, market animals will be divided into weight classes.
  2. If animal grades for auction, maximum pay weight will be adjusted to 1350 pounds.
  3. No horns.
  4. DANISH SYSTEM OF JUDGING
  5. U.S.D.A. Beef Cattle Grades:
    • MARKET READY: Market steers projected to have sufficient fat deposition to meet the marbling specifications of USDA Prime, Choice, or Select+ quality.
    • NOT MARKET READY: Market Steers lacking evidence of sufficient fat deposition to produce a desirable consumer product. Steers projected to grade USDA Select- or lower will not sell.

Beef 4-H or FFA Group Rules & Guidelines

  1. Enter at ringside.
  2. Any age, sex, or breed previously shown as individuals in either breeding or market divisions – combination of the breeding & market divisions will not be eligible. Market and Feeder Calves can be combined.
  3. Groups must be owned and shown by members of one club or chapter with not more than one animal owned and shown by any one member.
  4. Each club or chapter limited to one entry.

BEFORE YOU SUBMIT YOUR ENTRY

Carefully review this guide as it contains all of the applicable information regarding the exact rules and deadlines for this specific category, ensuring you are entering the correct classes in advance. When you submit your entry online you are agreeing that you understand the rules and regulations.

SHOWORKS

All entries must be made online through ShoWorks. If you plan to make changes to your entries or need to leave ShoWorks at any time - SAVE YOUR CART before exiting out. Once you select PAY NOW your entry will be submitted and you will not be able to make changes to your cart online. Those needing assistance with online entries can visit the Main Office Wednesday, January 24, 2024 to Friday, January 26, 2024 10:00am - 5:00pm and Saturday, January 27 9:00am - 3:00pm. The Main Office is located in the Shalimar building at Gate 4 on Arabia Street.


PAYMENT

Online credit card payments are the only method to enter your exhibit and are due upon entry. Cash or check payments will not be accepted.
