Special Rules & Guidelines

  1. All general, local, and state rules apply to this department.
  2. Open to Riverside County Residents, Growers, Shippers, Agri-Business, Commodity Organizations, or Processors of Agricultural Products.
  3. A GROWER/COMMERCIAL exhibitor shall be defined as one who engages in an activity for monetary profit.
  4. A NON-GROWER/NON-COMMERCIAL exhibitor shall be defined as one who engages in an activity as a pastime rather than as a profession.
  5. All commodities entered must have been grown in Riverside County. All agricultural and horticultural products must have been produced (grown) by exhibitor.
  6. All entries must be delivered to the Taj Mahal Building during the specified time unless other arrangements are made with the Building Supervisor.
  7. Variety of products must be adequately and correctly labeled. Limited refrigerated storage facilities will be available for exhibitor use.
  8. Fruit must be displayed without stems or foliage.
  9. The quality desired in agricultural and horticultural product exhibits is the quality which brings the best financial return in the commercial market and such exhibits must be at least equal in maturity as the state of ripeness required by Section 42513 of the California Food and Agriculture Code in order to be considered for premium awards.
  10. Section 42513 MATURE means having reached that stage of ripeness which will ensure palatability, after the removal of the product from the tree, plant, or vine.
  11. Section 42515 OVER-RIPE means having an advanced stage of maturity which causes the product to be undesirable for human consumption in a fresh state.

Single Flat

  1. Two (2) entries per class, per exhibitor
  2. Using a one-layer flat provided by the Fair displayed without stems or foliage
  3. Flats must be covered with paper by entrants
  4. Flameproof shredded paper is available - contact Department Supervisor

Plate Displays

  1. 8 inch plates provided by Department Supervisor
  2. One (1) entry per class, per exhibitor
  3. Fruits desired for exhibit will be the uniform commercial grade rather than over-grown
  4. Fruit will be judged on appearance – uniformity, color, shape and skin texture
  5. Each entry must include enough fruit to fill 8 inch plate unless otherwise specified

  1. Two (2) entries per class, per exhibitor - Commercial Growers only
  2. Standard fiber container
  3. Judged on appearance of pack
  4. Displayed without stems or foliage

Carefully review this guide as it contains all of the applicable information regarding the exact rules and deadlines for this specific category, ensuring you are entering the correct classes in advance. When you submit your entry online you are agreeing that you understand the rules and regulations.

SHOWORKS

All entries must be made online through ShoWorks. If you plan to make changes to your entries or need to leave ShoWorks at any time - SAVE YOUR CART before exiting out. Once you select PAY NOW your entry will be submitted and you will not be able to make changes to your cart online. Those needing assistance with online entries can visit the Main Office Saturday, January 11, 2025 to Friday, January 15, 2025. The Main Office is located in the Shalimar building at Gate 4 on Arabia Street.

PAYMENT

Online credit card payments are the only method to enter your exhibit and are due upon entry. Cash or check payments will not be accepted.

LAST DAY TO ENTER

SUNDAY, January 19 by 11:30 p.m.

Any entry or payment submitted past this deadline will not be accepted.
