Special Rules & Guidelines

  1. All general, local, and state rules apply to this department.
  2. Open to all Riverside County Junior Organizations, School Classes, and Youth Groups: FFA, FHA, 4-H, etc.; Independent Jr. Exhibitor – Ages 5 - 18 (not graduated from 12th grade).
  3. Each entry in these divisions shall have been made or produced by the exhibitor.
  4. All entries must remain in place for the duration of the Fair. No early pick-up.
  5. Fair reserves the right to display or mount entries as it deems appropriate, which may entail the use of nails, screws, staples, or other devices.
  6. No teachers/students may be present during judging.
  7. Judges reserve the right to accept, reject, or re-classify any exhibit if such an action is, in its judgment, in the best interest of the Riverside County Fair. The decision of the judges is final.
  8. All possible care will be taken with entries; however, the Fair Management, Jr. Exhibits Supervisor, or workers will assume no responsibility for loss or damage of any kind.
  9. The Riverside Country Fair will not be liable for any exhibits not picked up on dates and times specified for pick-up. All artwork not picked up by Monday, February 26 from 8:00 am to 6:00 pm in the Jr. Building #2, will be donated to local charities.

High School Fine Arts Special Rules & Guidelines

  1. Exhibits must be labeled accurately with student’s name, age, grade level, school/group, and teacher’s name attached to the back or bottom of entry before dropping off.
  2. Exhibits must have been completed during the current 12-month period preceding the Fair. Entry must be original work of art. No copies will be allowed.
  3. Judges reserve the right to jury all work in accordance with high standards and quality. Middle School Fine Art entry content must be within the standards of Jr. Exhibits; acceptable for viewers of ALL ages. Viewable art content decisions will be at the discretion of Fair Management. No themes depicting sex, drugs, violence, blood, skulls, death and/or political statements will be accepted.
  4. Exhibitors may enter two (2) entries per medium and maximum of two (2) classes. Teachers may enter a maximum of five (5) items per medium (i.e., pencil, chalk, and crayon). Maximum entries exceeding this number will not be accepted. Instructors are advised not to enter SIMILIAR items.
  5. *Denotes smearable artwork and must be covered with acetate or laminated.
  6. Two Dimensional Entries: Two-dimensional works such as drawing, photography, etc., must be mounted on mount board. Paintings, drawings, photography, etc.: smallest dimension 8 inch either direction; largest dimension 36 inch either direction, including matte. Box-type canvas will be accepted with no staples showing. Sides should be painted. Paintings in frames will not be accepted. Art work any larger; mounted on cork board or cardboard; displayed in wood, glass or plastic frames will NOT be accepted.
  7. Three Dimensional Entries: Sculptures, ceramics, etc.: 8 inch smallest dimension & 24 inch in longest dimension & weigh no more than 25 pounds. Must be made of permanent material.

BEFORE YOU SUBMIT YOUR ENTRY

Carefully review this guide as it contains all of the applicable information regarding the exact rules and deadlines for this specific category, ensuring you are entering the correct classes in advance. When you submit your entry online you are agreeing that you understand the rules and regulations.

SHOWORKS

All entries must be made online through ShoWorks. If you plan to make changes to your entries or need to leave ShoWorks at any time - SAVE YOUR CART before exiting out. Once you select PAY NOW your entry will be submitted and you will not be able to make changes to your cart online. Those needing assistance with online entries can visit the Main Office Wednesday, January 24, 2024 to Friday, January 26, 2024 10:00am - 5:00pm and Saturday, January 27 9:00am - 3:00pm. The Main Office is located in the Shalimar building at Gate 4 on Arabia Street.

PAYMENT

Online credit card payments are the only method to enter your exhibit and are due upon entry. Cash or check payments will not be accepted.

Any entry or payment submitted past this deadline will not be accepted.
