Special Rules & Guidelines

Craft & Hobbies

  1. Open to residents of Riverside County 18 years and over and not enrolled in High School.
  2. Two (2) entries per class, per exhibitor.
  3. Only 1st place winners will be eligible for Best of Division ribbon. To be eligible, there must be a minimum of three (3) entries per division.
  4. Judges reserve the right to eliminate entries based on display availability.
  5. Judges reserve the right to move or disqualify any exhibit that does not abide by the Rules of Crafts & Hobbies.
  6. For amateurs only unless otherwise specified. Professionals are classified as persons who engage in any event or activity for monetary profit, teaching included.
  7. All exhibits in this section must have been made by the exhibitor and not shown in a previous fair.
  8. Exhibits must be in presentable condition to be eligible for premium awards.
  9. Garment or article must be pressed and correctly labeled.
  10. Articles stained, soiled, or unsanitary will not be accepted.
  11. Any article showing signs of wear or use will be rejected.
  12. The exhibitors must have made all articles within two years of opening day of the Fair.
  13. Pictures, plaques, and wall hangings must be mounted and provided with secure means for hanging.
  14. No commercial products will be received or allowed to exhibit. No incomplete exhibits will be allowed.
  15. All display cases with be secured by the building supervisor and staff prior to the opening of Fair.
  16. All possible care will be taken to prevent loss or damage to exhibits but in no event will the Fair Management, Building Supervisors or workers be responsible for any injury or loss which might occur.
  17. AMERICAN SYSTEM OF JUDGING

Ceramics

  1. Beginners are defined as winners of 1-10 ribbons in past competitions.
  2. Advanced are defined as winners of 11 or more ribbons in past competitions.

Professional Handcrafters

  1. Open to professionals only.
  2. Professionals are classified as persons who engage in any event or activity for monetary profit, teaching included.
  3. No monetary award.

Collections

  1. This is the only senior division that is open to exhibitors under 18 years of age.
  2. Limited to one (1) display case.
  3. If a collection has been shown in a previous Fair; it is not eligible.
  4. Please include (no larger than) a 5x7 notecard and briefly describe the interesting facts regarding your collection.
  5. Lockable cases are available and will be assigned on a first-come, first serve basis; please make case request to Jim Hundley at craftsandhobbies@verizon.net
  6. Case dimensions are 46. 5 inch wide by 12 inch high by 24 inch deep.
  7. Exhibitors should line all display cases – NO sand or gravel.
  8. Inside dimensions are very tight; liners should be smaller than the above measurements.
  9. Do not forget to allow for overlap in liner pieces.
  10. Thickness of liner material (card board) should be considered.
  11. Exhibitors should be aware that dimensions may vary slightly from case to case.
  12. Alterations to basic case construction are not allowed.
  13. If collection is too large for case, please specify the size of items.

Adult Tab le Setting (NEW)

1. Exhibitors must set up their own table settings.
2. Tables are provided by Fair. Table size is 36-inch x 36 inch.
3. Entry must include and is limited to - two place settings, centerpiece, and menu.
4. Settings will be judged on proper set-up to menu.
5. The menu will be judged and must include at least one item from each food group to balance the menu.
6. No perishable items allowed.
7. All table setting exhibits must remain in place for the duration of the Fair.

BEFORE YOU SUBMIT YOUR ENTRY

Carefully review this guide as it contains all of the applicable information regarding the exact rules and deadlines for this specific category, ensuring you are entering the correct classes in advance. When you submit your entry online you are agreeing that you understand the rules and regulations.

SHOWORKS

All entries must be made online through ShoWorks. If you plan to make changes to your entries or need to leave ShoWorks at any time - SAVE YOUR CART before exiting out. Once you select PAY NOW your entry will be submitted and you will not be able to make changes to your cart online. Those needing assistance with online entries can visit the Main Office Saturday, January 11, 2025 to Friday, January 15, 2025. The Main Office is located in the Shalimar building at Gate 4 on Arabia Street.

PAYMENT

Online credit card payments are the only method to enter your exhibit and are due upon entry. Cash or check payments will not be accepted.

LAST DAY TO ENTER

SUNDAY, January 19 by 11:30 p.m.

Any entry or payment submitted past this deadline will not be accepted.
