New Queen Scheherazade Crowned

Indio, CA – On Saturday evening, November 18, 2006, the Riverside County Fair & National Date Festival held its 61st Annual Queen Scheherazade Scholarship Pageant, sponsored by the City of Indian Wells at the Fairgrounds in Indio.
La Casita Restaurants provided the catering for the pageant, helping to make it an enjoyable and memorable experience for all the contestants, their families and the crowd of spectators. Three young women were chosen as the Queen and her Court.
Crowned Queen Scheherazade is Jessica Walls, of College of the Desert. Jessica is a recent graduate of Palm Desert High School and is now in her freshman year at COD. She also reigned as Princess Dunyazade during the 2006 Fair.
Cassandra Fausel, a senior at Palm Desert High School, was crowned Princess Dunyazade. She is the Editor in Chief of the yearbook and a member of the California Association of Student Councils.
Crowned as Princess Jasmine is Sarah Manning, a senior at Cathedral City High School where she was named “Who’s Who” among America’s High School Students. She plans to pursue her nursing degree after high school.
The new Queen and her Court will reign as ambassadors for the Riverside County Fair & National Date Festival, February 16-25, 2007. For more information about the Fair, call 1-800-811-FAIR.
